Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair: July 31, 2012

Georgia State University School of Law will hold its annual Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair (SIPJF) in Atlanta, GA on July 31, 2012. Interested students can preview a list of participating employers here. To participate in SIPJF, students must (1) complete the registration form and return it to the Career Development Office by noon on Monday, May 21, AND (2) pay the online registration fee of $30 by noon Monday, May 21. Apple, E-books, and Anti-trust

Join the Career Development Office for a lunch with Mark Levy and Bret Fulkerson of
the Office of the Attorney General of Texas. They will be discussing the anti-trust lawsuit against Apple and what it’s like working for a government agency.

Fall 2012 Recruiting Timeline

See below for the 2012 OCI Fall Recruiting Schedule. If you have any questions, stop by the Career Development Office in 8BLB.

July 2: Students are able to log into Symplicity to review employers participating in Fall Recruiting (Students must complete their TWEN training and meet with a Career Counselor to get their password to Symplicity)

July 2: Deadline to request resume review in order to guarantee you will have it back BEFORE bidding starts

July 16-23: Bidding Period (submit application materials) MUST log into Symplicity in order to bid.

Aug 1-6: Accept/Decline Period -- Must log into Symplicity to sign up for interview slots (first come first served)

August 7-8: Alternative Sign Up (must log into Symplicity)

August 20-24: Interviews take place at the Law Center: Career Development Office, Finnell Rooms or 2nd floor TUII

2012 UHLC Graduate Fellowship

Details on the UHLC Graduate Fellowship program are here!

The graduate fellowship program helps graduates productively bridge the time between sitting for a bar exam and receiving bar results.  The goal of the fellowship program is to expand a graduate's experience/resume and increase their connections in the legal market while working with a government or non-profit legal organization.  Fellows will also participate in the Career Development Office’s bi-weekly career coaching & counseling program.


A limited number of fellowships are available.  Interested grads should make note of the three step application process: 

(1) No later than May 18th (prior to arranging placement) meet with the Assistant Dean and the Public Interest Advisor to discuss placement options relevant to your career goals (schedule appointments here); 
(2) submit your application to your organization, gain approval, and have your organization submit the Agency Agreement by June 8, 2012;  and
(3) email your application and resume to Anna Julia at amjulia@central.uh.edu in the Career Development Office also by June 8, 2012.

 

Fellows will earn $4000 for 10 weeks of part-time work between August and November. 

A completed application includes an application, a current resume and the agency agreement and will not be accepted if the applicant has not met with the Assistant Dean and the Public Interest Advisor for Career Development.  All completed applications are due Friday, June 8, 2012 – NO EXCEPTIONS.

2Ls: Apprentice Program – BIDDING ENDS TONIGHT, Thursday, March 22nd at 11:59 pm. 

Today is your last day to bid for employers and apply for the Apprentice Program! If you are interested in applying, you must bid on Symplicity tonight by 11:59 pm!

 Student Timeline:

March 15th: Students begin reviewing employers on Symplicity under the Recruiting tab. 

March 20 - 22:  Students apply/bid with a cover letter and resume for up to three employers.

March 23 - April 5: Employers review applications and contact candidates of interest.

Late March/Early April: If employment placement is secured, students apply for the Apprenticeship class through clinical program.

May 21 - June 29: Students work 30 hours/week as an apprentice and attend class on Thursday evenings during such time.
